password protect

Alas the time has come to go password protect on any pictures that show my kiddos faces or that share any personal information. Makes me sad but there are a lot of crazy people out there. Nicki found pictures of Addy on a very disturbing you tube movie made by someone she did not even know. Another friend found pictures of her daughter on a strangers blog. I spent late last night and most of the morning changing my posts to password protect and changing my flickr account to private. I am not even close to being done, it’s going to take at least a few days. Sad sad sad! If you would like my password please leave me a comment or email me letting me know how I know you and/or your blog address. I hate this.

  1. Wowza. I am so sorry that we live in a world of crazies, but knowing strange things are happening to people you know, is all the ‘reason’ you need to be proactive.

I am Teri from Iowa. My blog address comes up with my signature. My husband and I were going to adopt from VN, but alas, we will not be adopting.

I have followed your journeys, since Deliah, then the boys (all at once!) then, dear Henry.

It is up to you whether or not to allow me, a ‘stranger’, into your private, protected posts. Whatever you decide about my request, will be viewed as being the best for your children.

Go forth (and adopt again?) in peace….

  2. Hi, I would love your password. I am a single mom of 2 little girls adopted from China and 1 little girl from Vietnam. I bought some of your flower barretts off of your etsy site. If you don’t feel comfortable, I understand.

    Thanks

  3. I just don’t understand people. To steal one’s photos is mind boggling to begin with, but photos of children? Bizarre. You don’t know me, but I’ve been following your blog for a few months now. I’ve really enjoyed your 365 project. I hope to give it a whirl next year. My blog is strictly related to my paper-crafting hobby, I have left a link attached to my name. I would love to continue to read your blog, but totally understand if that is something you are not comfortable with.

  4. I have not adopted as my husband in no way supports my desire to do so so I have been following a small number of blogs. Yours has been one of those…

I wish you and your family the best…I completely understand your need for privacy.

  5. I’m so sorry! I’ve had this problem too and just told a blog friend that I found a pic of her daughter on a random blog. Seems it’s quite a problem and thinking of going private myself.

Yes…please send me your password. =)

  6. Hey, Kelley- yep, there are some really creepy folks out there evidently. That video really freaked me out too–that blog incident caused me to password for most of my posts too, but unfortunately I think it cuts it off from many of those who might have a valid interest too–it is really sad that it is necessary. I just don’t understand these crazy people who are doing these things…

Please count me in on the password!

  7. How amazingly sad and scary! I would love to continue to follow your adorable kids, as yours was one of the first blogs that I followed when we began our journey to our Vietnamese son.

  8. People are so weird and inappropriate! I would love to have the password. I’ve been a reader for a few years now and comment fairly often.

    Thanks,
    Raine
    Mom to three from China

  9. You know I need the password – good luck getting rid of me! I think I’m going to have to find time to do the same on mine. I don’t have NEARLY the number of people following my blog as you, Nikki, Kelly, etc., but it still creeps me out to hear what you all are coming across. To read above that others have run into it too – well, I guess it’s time. (How in the world are people finding out about this happening to you? Thank goodness you are but wow!) As someone mentioned it does make me sad in a way to make the change, knowing that at least four families have chosen domestic adoption and my agency at least in part due to my blog, and I treasure that. BUT we have to watch out for our little ones first and foremost. Given that you’ve already had problems, definitely time to go more private. Scary times.

  10. Too many creepy people out there, it is really sad, that it make us feel uneasy, can not blame you, I truly love your PW, I follow your blog quite frequently, love your photography talent, with pictures of normal daily objects, but somehow, your pictures bring out their identity, their hidden beauties, and love to read about your beauifull loving family, with such adorable kids.

  11. I get that…. and your right there are too many creepy people out there. I would love to have you password, but I understand if you don’t want to give it. There is my website and I am an IRL friend of Carissa at http://abc123vn.wordpress.com/ Which is how I started reading your blog. I love seeing your updated pictures, your children are adorable.

If you have questions you can e-mail me.

  12. Hi Kelley, I definately would like your password. I have gotten so used to seeing your children every day, I would just miss hearing about them if I couldn’t keep up. (I’ll always have a special place in my heart for Henry after spending a few days with him in VN). That video with Addy’s pictures on it freaked me out too. keep your children safe!

  13. I haven’t ever commented here before but I love following your blog! We adopted from VN in 2007. I have also enjoyed your etsy store! I would love to be able to continue to follow along!

  14. Hey there. We “know” each other from VN adoption. I had a password for you from a while ago, but it doesn’t seem to be the right one anymore.
So, how do you go about looking for you pics. around the web? How did Nicki find that picture of Addy? I don’t even know where to start.

  15. Hi Kelley,
I am a viewer of your blog. I have been following since before you went to get your sweet twin son’s and your daughter.
I would like to keep reading. I also have a blog that I just recently went private with. I can include you if you would like. My Daughter (from Vietnam) is 32 months old.
I have not seen the video everyone is talking about. But it makes me feel better to know who is viewing my blog now.
    take care,
    bev

  16. Hey, we don’t know each other but I found your blog whilst researching international adoption – my husband and I are planning on doing it in the future. I would really love to have the password to keep reading, your photos are so beautiful!
Im from England and don’t yet have a blog of my own.

  17. Hi Kelley,
I have been reading your blog for long time as well. I had your last password too. I started reading about your wonderful family when my husband and I started thinking about adopting. You also inspired me to go green! I would love to keep up with you and your family but I understand how you feel. There are some freaky people out there.

  18. Hi, You don’t know me, but I’ve adopted from India & Vietnam. I LOVE following your blog. I completely understand the need for privacy. I would love to have your password, but I understand if you don’t want to send it. Jan

  19. I love your blog, check in daily for the beautiful photo’s and insights on raising kids. We adopted our daughter from VN in 2008. I understand your concerns, my blog is private, open only to family, friends and fellow VN adoptive parents. I would love to have your password and happy to trade it for an invite to my blog. Yours is PRETTIER than mine but then I didn’t say it was a fair trade. ;0) and if you shoot me an email – I’ll invite you first, so you can get to know us first since I already have read your blog. Sorry to hear about the weirdness. Such a shame. Take care!

  20. I sure would like to keep following along. I have enjoyed following your blog for a loooooong time. This whole picture thing is really freaking me out, makes me worry about my blog and all the pictures I have of Miss P.

    Tamara

  21. Hi Kelley – I would love to continue to follow your blog. I have always wanted to start a blog, but I, too, have been fearful of the crazy people in the world. Now I am wondering if Facebook is a safe place to post pictures of my girls?!?! Any idea?
The internet is POWERFUL! I just took a class on the dangers of cyber-bullying. What a world our little ones have to grow up in!
    Take care!

  22. K –
I confess to lurking on your blog. I love to see pictures of the kiddos, especially Henry who looks so much like Addis some days. Please send me a password so I can keep up with your progress. One day when I get my act together (HA!) I will send some pics of Addis. He is doing great and happy as can be. What a year it has been.
Take care and Hi to your sis.
    Erin (and Wil and Add)

  23. Hey Kelley –

As a fellow adoptive mom of an older child (and with IAAP) – I would love to continue to follow your blog. You know me from facebook too. 🙂

    Thanks
    Laura

    xoxo

  25. Please include me in on the password. I have followed the boys since the first day on IAAP then I was so happy to see them find a family. Love to watch your family grow. I admire your blogging and wish I could blog like you. We were in VN around the same time in 07 adopting twin girls. Blessings, M

  26. Hi there! I am a fellow Vietnam AP and love watching your Vietnamese cuties. I certainly understand your concerns. What a wierd world we live in.
    Amy 🙂

  27. Hi there
I have enjoyed your blog since the kids came from Vietnam. I have a Vietnamese hubby and we tried unsuccessfully to adopt from Vietnam as well as the USA. I had the blog mellowandyellow but it is now defunct. We are now embarking on a journey with fertility treatments and will have the blog up again soon. Hope that you are comfortable sharing the password with me. Namaste

  28. I’ve been following your blog(s) since your first adoption and would love the password. I would miss it. I have a 20 month old daughter from Vietnam. I would be happy to invite you to my blog too. It’s private, so I competely understand why you want to do this.

  29. I don’t know if you are giving it to people you don’t know, but I’ve been a long time reader and giver of Austin information. I’d love to keep following along, but understand if you choose not to.

  30. I am so sorry to hear this! I wonder how many images of Duc are out there that I don’t even know about.

Please include me on when you distribute passwords. You know I love checking in from time to time:)

  31. I have been following your blog for a long time now and kept up with your switches. I hate that you have to PW protect, but I’d love to be included.
